about Waggoner

Waggoner offers color vision testing devices accepted by the U.S. Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and FAA. The Waggoner CCVT provides a diagnostic pseduoisochromatic color vision test developed by Dr. Terrace Waggoner, which ascertains if you're colorblind, what type of color vision deficiency you have, and the severity of the deficiency.

What is color blindness?

The human eye sees by light stimulating the retina. The retina is made up of what are called Rods and Cones. Cones let us perceive color during daylight conditions. Due to genetic and acquired defects, the color-sensitive pigments in the Cones lead to us perceiving certain colors incorrectly, which leads to color blindness.

If your child is diagnosed with color blindness, you can:

  • Better equip children daily with coping mechanisms
  • Improve their grades and behaviour from a formative age
  • Help them navigate day-to-day actions such as dressing or reading traffic lights
  • Preempt more serious risks and diseases denoted by color blindness

Color blindness: A symptom of
greater risks to come

Did you know that color blindness can be an indicator of more serious diseases in your child’s future? A diagnosis today can help you prevent or prepare your child’s health against the following serious conditions below:

Glaucoma

A condition that causes damage to your eye's optic nerve and worsens over time.

Macular Degeneration

It occurs when the small central portion of the retina, known as the macula, deteriorates, and is the leading cause of vision loss in elderly people.

Cataracts

Cataracts cause fuzzy vision and light sensitivity due to cloudy areas forming over the eye's lens.

Lupus

An autoimmune disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks its own organs and tissue, affecting numerous body systems.

Hypertension

Hypertension is another term for long-term high blood pressure, where the blood pressure in the arteries is elevated persistently.

Diabetes

A disease that effects the blood sugar or glucose levels in the body.

Optic Nerve Neuropathies

Also known as optic atrophy, this condition occurs when there is a loss of fibers in the optic nerve.

Why is Waggoner’s Color Vision Test perfect for your child?

  1. The test feels more like a game that one can have fun with.
  2. The test uses child-friendly symbols (stars, circles, squares) as opposed to numbers.
  3. Every plate has at least one recognizable symbol for a sense of achievement.
  4. Children get plenty of time on each plate.

A 5-year-old and a 12-year-old may see the world differently. That’s why we’re offering two tests.
